Holland Ridge Farms U-Pick Tulips Spring Festival

There is a little slice of the Netherlands located in central New Jersey.  Holland Ridge Farm emanates the vibe of spring in Holland, with tulip fields extended over 153 acres.  These multicolored tulips span almost as far as the eye can see.

As of April 2022, the price of admission into the tulip field is $13 per person (see the end of this post for more technical details).  This includes event admission, where there are plenty of photo ops spread through the grounds in addition to the flowers.

The fields of tulips extend as far as the eye can see.

While there are a few rows of tulips towards then entrance that are for display only, the rest of the fields are available for picking.

Holland Ridge Farms provides buckets for your hand-picked tulips.  Before you leave the grounds, you will pass through a checkout station where they will count and wrap your tulips; it costs $1 per stem.

Throughout the fields were various photo-ops.  These included Instagram frames, wooden shoes, flower walls, bikes, and "I love tulips" signs all giving cute, slightly kitsch-y Dutch vibes.

In addition to the tulip picking, there are are rotation of food trucks in two different locations.  With a few exceptions, both locations contained the same food trucks.  While we visited some of the cuisines included BBQ, Thai, and Mexican foods, along with more traditional festivals foods (think fried dough and french fries).  The real stars of the show were the traditional Dutch sweets- stroopwafel and poffertjes.  The stroopwafel (thin cinnamon waffle cookies filled with caramel) were hand-filled as we ordered.  They were deliciously gooey and warm.  The poffertjes (small Dutch pancakes dusted with powdered sugar) were equally delicious.

If you are in the area during late April or early May, I highly recommend putting Holland Ridge Farm on your agenda.  Admission to the fields requires advanced ticket purchase, and the weekend dates sell out rather quickly so I suggest you order your tickets as soon as their website opens up (usually early April).  Parking is free, and located in grassy fields close to the entrance.  There is also handicap parking available, but be aware that the fields might be difficult to navigate because they have uneven surfaces.  The tulips come at an additional cost of $1 per stem if you choose to pick your own.  Food trucks are also an additional cost.
