Review of the Hotel Santa Fe || Santa Fe, NM Travel

Location

The Hotel Santa Fe is located at 1501 Paseo de Peralta.  It was a 25 minute drive from the regional airport.

Overall, the location of the hotel was really great. Despite the fact that it was not located in the city center (the Plaza region), it was a very central location and within walking distance of the major sites.  It was about a 15 minute walk to the Plaza area, where many of the shops and restaurants are located.  It was also about a 10-15 minute walk in the opposite direction to the Railyard district, where there is a weekly farmers market, restaurants, and some small shops.  If we had been staying at one of the hotels in the Plaza district, it would have been very difficult to walk to the Railyard district.

Ambiance

The Hotel Santa Fe has an adobe-style exterior. Inside, there is a small bar area (6 seats total) with a larger lounge and dining room that are all part of the hotel’s restaurant, Amaya.  I wish there were more places to sit down and relax in the lobby, other than the lounge for the restaurant because I felt bad taking up one of their tables.

Rooms

We stayed in a room with two double beds and it was sufficient for our needs.  There was a small balcony with two chairs that was nice to sit on in the morning, although there were not any pretty views from our part of the hotel.  It was nice to open the balcony doors as well, because our room never got cooler than 72 degrees even when adjusting the thermostat.

Transportation

The hotel has a shuttle service on demand for guests, but it is very limited.  The shuttle will only travel within a 1 mile radius.  We used the shuttle once to get us to a restaurant on a rainy night, but had trouble called it on our way home because the only way to reach the driver is via the front desk.

We also had trouble with transportation to the airport as we were leaving; I highly recommend pre-booking a cab or driver to prevent being stranded.  We pre-booked a Lyft that ended up canceling on us the morning of our flight. We scrambled and found a random woman who has a driving service side gig, and she got us to the airport just in time for our flight. Uber and Lyft are not super reliable here and the front desk at the Hotel Santa Fe did not offer any concierge services to help us.

Food

The food and drinks at the hotel’s restaurant, Amaya, were fine.  There was a happy hour menu with drinks and snacks that we took advantage of one night when it was raining.  Otherwise, I would recommend trying one of the other eateries nearby.

In the area there are a few good restaurants and cafes that I would recommend instead:
